Which visa you need
For a short medical visit (consultation, treatment, or surgery), most patients enter on a tourist (L) visa or, for longer treatment/stays, a medical (M or relevant) visa. The exact type depends on:
- How long you’ll be in China (a few days vs. several weeks)
- The nature of the treatment
- Your nationality (visa-free / visa-on-arrival rules differ by country)
