We’re a couple from Manchester, UK, and after two years of trying, we decided to explore IVF in China after hearing it was more affordable and the centers were high-volume.
How we found a center
We shortlisted Beijing fertility centers with an international program, then emailed our records. One responded in English within a day with a written quote and a clear cycle plan — that made us feel safe to book.
What actually happened
- Pre-cycle: Consultation, scans, and hormone tests. We did the stimulation and egg retrieval on site.
- Cycle 1: A couple of embryos were created but the transfer didn’t take. We were told this is common.
- Cycle 2: Using the plan and frozen embryos, the transfer worked.
Cost and communication
Two cycles came to well under what we understood the same treatment to cost in the UK. The main learning points were:
- Get a written, itemized quote before flying.
- Use the international program — English communication made a real difference.
- Budget for more than one cycle — not every cycle results in pregnancy.
