Lung Cancer and a New Treatment Plan in Beijing

I’m a 58-year-old from Toronto, diagnosed with lung cancer. I wanted a second opinion and access to newer treatment options, so I came to Beijing.
How I approached it
I started by shortlisting comprehensive cancer centers in Beijing with a multidisciplinary team (MDT). I sent my pathology and staging for a remote review before deciding to travel.
What actually happened
- Remote consult: The oncology team reviewed my records and proposed an MDT discussion.
- On site: I had updated scans and a tissue review, and the team confirmed a targeted-therapy approach based on my tumor’s markers.
- Treatment: I began the plan in China, with a clear schedule.
Cost and communication
The cost was considerably less than I understood the same care to cost in Canada, and the international department provided English support throughout. Getting a written plan and quote upfront was what gave me the confidence to come.

- Get a second opinion and an MDT review for complex cases.
- Bring your full pathology and staging.
- Get a written plan and quote before you travel.
- Confirm the follow-up plan for when you’re back home.
