Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH)

Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH), founded in 1921, is one of the oldest and most respected hospitals in China and a flagship of the national medical system. It is consistently ranked among the top general hospitals in the country and is a key referral center for complex cases.

International patient services. The International Medical Services department (国际医疗部) was established in 1951 — originally the Foreign Patients Medical Section — and has long served visiting heads of state, diplomatic missions, and foreign patients. It offers regular, evening, and VIP special-appointment clinics, with dedicated health-management and endoscopy centers at the Dongdan campus and a parallel unit at Xidan. It also runs a palliative-care (安宁缓和医疗) program — one of the more comprehensive international-patient services in China.
